I must confess, lately I have been drawn to shades of purple no matter where I see them, and my obsession is honestly out of control. The one color that always grabs my attention shopping both online and in stores is the fresh, majestic hue better known as lavender. This feminine palette calms my nerves as school kicks into gear and my last semester is in full swing. I hope you all had a great Valentine’s Day, but now it’s time to cut back on the calories and count down until the spring break holiday…and frankly, it couldn’t come fast enough! With spring and summer fashion trends flooding department stores and boutiques everywhere, I couldn’t help but style an outfit around the beautiful Brooklyn Decker’s floral fashion look. This A-lister and top-notch trendsetter never disappoints when she is spotted out, and I absolutely adore her colorful pairing that is perfect for a summer picnic out on Town Lake or a shopping day with the gals.
Bold prints and colors are obviously popular this season, and I found some similar and affordable jackets in both a floral and tropical print- ready to add a trendy touch to your favorite LBD. Ever since I have jumped on the bandwagon and dedicated hours of each day to Pinterest, I’ve become obsessed with wearing glittery polish and color-blocked hues on my fingers. These DIY nail trends are a fun way to show off your personality , and there are endless combinations to try. If you are anything like me, you don’t like spending that extra buck on a manicure, so changing out colors and styles weekly is a fun and relaxing hobby of mine. I’ve made it pretty clear that neons and pastels are huge right now, and OPI/Essie completely agree! The three main trends I have been rockin’ lately are bright, bold color blocking, pointer- finger glitz, and shimmer tips mixed with muted shades.

It’s no secret that the fashion world is going dotty over polka dot prints this year. We’ve all seen them before, and the most popular way to wear the trend is in chic black and white… but I prefer a navy tone to show off my spots. Although polka dot patterns tend to scare some people, they truly give off a friendly welcome! Mixing these playful prints both large and small is a hit right now, and even though spots don’t always come natural for me, I am willing to give them my best try!

With Valentine’s Day only 14 days away, it’s official: my date for two years in a row now is once again my good friend Izzie, along with seven or so other ladies. We made our annual singles reservation at P.F. Changs downtown, and I couldn’t be more excited to devour their four-course meal for two, complete with your choice of soup, an appetizer, two entrees, individual mini desserts, and my favorite, a bottle of Pinot Noir! This month is full of handmade heart cards, fragrant flowers, and confused men trying to plan that last-second night out with their leading ladies, so I consider myself lucky to be able to spend the Hallmark holiday with my girls who would never break my heart like every man so gracefully does! …and most importantly, whether you are dressing for your admirer or a singles night out (hopeful that love will be on your side next year), finding that memorable outfit is crucial…so my advice is to impress Cupid and color block in shades of red and pink. If the infamous style icon and ”tell it like it is” hopeless romantic- Carrie Bradshaw (better known as Sarah Jessica Parker) gives this trend her approval, you can bet that others will too. I challenge you all to make Feb. 14th special this 2012, and skip getting wrapped up in the stress of it all. Just make sure to spend quality time with someone you love dearly!
