I mentioned in an earlier post that I was recently chosen as Roar’s “It Girl,” and I had the opportunity to get my hair colored and cut over the weekend!  I instagrammed a few fun details at the dainty little salon that was filled with rustic furniture, gleaming wallpaper, and signature lions placed aesthetically throughout the parlor.

This award-winning “urban oasis” as they like to call it, is nestled in the heart of downtown, right around the corner from another favorite spot of mine, Edge Boutique.  My stylists Briana and Matthew were absolutely wonderful, and by far, some of the best in the business!  Their styling techniques and added Kerastase treatment made my hair look beautiful, and I shared countless laughs over a mimosa and good company!  Thank you to Elese for setting everything up for me, and stay tuned for more posts about my blow-out I’m getting done for graduation!

Follow Roar on twitter and facebook if you haven’t already!

What is a Nasty Gal?  Don’t worry, it’s not what you think!  The company deems her the coolest girl in the room, pulling off just about anything you can imagine from vintage gems to current trends.  I’m sure you are all familiar with this online clothing sensation, but in case you aren’t… here are a few of my favorite new looks!  Can you tell I’m a little captivated by shades of blush at the moment?  These rosy pink hues and hints of tangerine scream springtime!

You can’t go wrong with a cut-out top like the neon pocket shirt above, and the high-waisted scalloped shorts paired with a flowing blouse are oh so flattering!  Shop Nasty Gal’s new looks for all your spring/summer necessities, and enter their blog contest for a chance to win a $10,000 gift card!

It’s no secret that Zara is always on target with what’s trending … and the above picks are some of my favorite online looks!  Both standard and store delivery is free, and returns are welcomed.  What are you waiting for?  Get to shopping already!

Like I promised last week, I stopped by StyleX Friday and snapped a few pictures as I browsed around fashion booths and added to my SXSW experience.

A mix of vintage and modern clothing stores filled the convention center as people shopped around, looking for great purchases while sipping on cocktails and enjoying music provided by a live DJ.  My favorite find was the Lumete Eyewear booth.  Their feminine and flirty styled sunglasses are uniquely shaped and handmade for women like me!

Although I wasn’t able to attend the panel discussions due to last-minute sickness, I heard that they were inspirational and insightful!

I hope you all had a wonderful SXSW and spring break vacation.  Now the count down begins until the sweet summertime break!

Below is a fun Q&A with the talented girl behind the jewels, Audra!

1. Nickname? “Audball.”

2. Where are you from? “I was originally born in Roswell, New Mexico, and later raised in Lubbock, Texas.”

3. What is one item you would never leave the house without? “A roll-on stick of fresh perfume.”

4. If you were a shoe, what shoe would you be? “A lace-up, wedge heel bootie in fantastic black leather! Just saying it gets me excited and makes me feel powerful.”

5. Who is your celebrity crush? “Kit Harington from Game of Thrones. An accent with shaggy hair and puppy dog eyes- that’s a killer combo!”

6. What was the last song playing in your car? “Wading in the Velvet Sea- Phish.”

7. What inspired you to design jewelry? “A college research project in an Ancient African History writing course. I was so interested in studying the materials and natural elements used to adorn people throughout different cultures.”

8. Who is your favorite jewelry designer? “Elizabeth and Kathryn Fortunator of Lizzie Fortunato Jewels.”

9. What is your favorite thing to do in Austin? “Wake up on a Saturday, pop into a neighborhood coffee shop, and order a yummy breakfast. I could sit for hours and read a book or people watch some of the visitors.”

10. One thing most people don’t know about you? “As much as I love jewelry, I have a fear of over doing it. I’ll never forget this Coco Chanel quote I read in a book that influences my style: “When accessorizing, always take off the last thing you put on.” I’m a firm believer that sometimes too much can be distracting. If you’re on your way out the door and throw on something last minute, it probably wasn’t necessary. If you have confidence, that’s all you need!”

I must confess, lately I have been drawn to shades of purple no matter where I see them, and my obsession is honestly out of control.  The one color that always grabs my attention shopping both online and in stores is the fresh, majestic hue better known as lavender.  This feminine palette calms my nerves as school kicks into gear and my last semester is in full swing.  This lavender arrangement would look lavish paired with a crisp white background or mixed with other pastel pretties.  Don’t you agree?

I hope you all are embracing the spirit of romance today… I know I sure am! This delicate, rosy colored inspiration board is helping me plan what to wear tonight in order to show off my love-day mood!  I could easily feel down and disheartened spending my Valentine’s Day single yet again…but I couldn’t be more excited to go out with my gals tonight who are all in the same boat.  If you didn’t get the chance to hear about my festivities, read here for all the goodies!

As you get older this dreamy holiday isn’t always so peachy perfect, but I am determined to remember the times where handing out sweet little valentines topped with lollipops and candy hearts was oh so fun…and this year is no exception!  I plan on bringing something special to dinner for all of my lovely ladies as we spend our last few months together before parting ways and entering the real world (outside of college).  So, like I said earlier this month, be happy in this moment and cherish those who love you unconditionally both today and every day!

I had a great, balanced weekend full of trying new things, going out with my gals, and having “me time” for reflection and relaxation.  I can’t believe that after 4 years in Austin, I’ve never been to Esther’s Follies… I literally could not stop laughing, and was one of the lucky chosen to be cut in half during a magician trick in the show. (which was on my bucket list!!)  I also tried out Zax’s- which is known for their brunch, and had a few hours to start A Thousand Splendid Suns.  Lastly… although I got questioned about my “one yellow fingernail” by just about every guy I was around this weekend, I absolutely love my neon-nail DIY that I did courtesy of OPI!

I am going to feature some Instagram posts every so often for my readers to see how I fill my time in the wonderful city of Austin.  Next up… how my Valentine’s Day will be spent as a single girl, going two years strong!

Have a wonderful, prosperous week!

For the past couple of a years, my girls and I have made it tradition to road trip out to New Orleans and spend time indulging in dueling piano bars, delectable and distinct Cajun food, and days that turn into nights full of memories of our college experiences.  Tomorrow, we will set our Pandora stations to catchy nineties tunes yet again, as we catch up on our Christmas holiday spent away from school and get excited for the NYE festivities to come!  Today’s style board is full of my most celebrated times in NOLA at the one-of-a-kind coffee stand Cafe De Monde, on Bourbon listening to genuine street music that you can’t find anywhere else, and dancing behind feathered creations to hide from the crowds.  I hope you all have a healthy and happy new year! … See you lovelies in 2012!
